CLIMB TO THE TOP OF YOUR CAREER

Empowering capable women to join executive leadership positions and become directors

Meet your leader, Cherie Leeden

Cherie Leeden Executive Coach and Mentor in the Mining Industry

A little about me (Cherie Leeden):

I was one of the youngest directors to be appointed to the board of a public company, back when I was 29. I later became a CEO and Managing Director.  I am determined to empower other motivated women to realize their potential and to provide them with insight and strategy on how they can achieve their corporate goals, based on my wide variety of experience, which includes working for both majors and juniors across the world.  I graduated in 2002 as a geologist. For the past decade I have focussed on creating mineral resource start-ups which become public companies listed on global stock exchanges.

I believe that when you are pushed to the maximum physically, it opens up parts of the brain to even more greatness. The Apex Women Leadership experience combines coaching, mentoring and leadership skills, blended together to create a very unique outdoors leadership program, unlike any other.

I feel a sense of purpose and privilege to be able to empower more women to join Executive Leadership positions in the global mineral resources sector. Your success is my success; my goal is to see more capable women in Director & Leadership positions within our industry; and I am here to help you get there.

You can find more about my career via:  https://nvresources.com/our-leadership-team or on LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/cherieleeden/

Lake Tahoe Leadership Course

What we will do

I will lead you mentally and physically up a breathtaking mountain path which pushes your boundaries.

I host an overnight backcountry camping corporate leadership experience (where participants carry their own supplies, including tent, air mattress, food, water etc) for a 2 day (1 night) leadership program.

We will hike about 6-7 miles to the amazing overnight camping spot. This will take 4-6 hours depending on how fast we go, and the stops we make along the way.

Along the journey we will get to know each other, paying particular focus to your current career and your future career ambitions.

We will explore your values and I'll introduce you to a few relevant leadership case study examples.  We will get to know each other while we explore goals, and this will provide a strong foundation for the following day's exercises.

I will provide advice and suggest tools to maximize your professional relationships and take your career to the next level. This is not your ordinary leadership course.

Please note that there is also a full day hiking Leadership Course alternative available.

Lake Tahoe Outdoor Leadership Course

What you will take away

You will gain new strategic insights, global perspective, obtainable goals and leadership skills that enable you to lead change, drive innovation, and sustain a competitive advantage.

Camping under the stars in basic condition after carrying all of your own gear and pushing yourself physically for several hours will open up parts of the brain and heart which allow for invaluable insights.

This is not a classroom-based leadership course nor is for the faint hearted.

We will be hiking a mountain together and overnighting in a tent. This is designed to push you out of your comfort zone, because great change doesn't come out of being comfortable. I will push you to realize your true career potential and will help you create a plan of how to achieve your goals.

Cherie Leeden leading Lake Tahoe Leadership Program

What you will get out of it

The leadership coaching and mentoring that you will receive is designed to support and encourage you in moving toward your career goals.

You will become a more confident, motivational and effective leader—whether you supervise small teams or a global organization.

Together we will discuss a pathway for you to lead with lasting impact and make the most of your talents in driving innovation, change, and growth.

We will explore a roadmap for the next steps in your career, which is aimed at getting more females into Senior Executive Leadership roles and on Boards.

Lake Tahoe

What commitment do you need to make?

The program is run over two days and one night. It can be run during the week or over the weekend depending on the group's preference and work/family schedule.

Prior to the leadership camp there will be at least one introductory call to discuss your current career and to learn your general career objectives, this is designed at kickstarting our time together on the mountain. The leadership content delivered during the course is tailored to your professional/career focus. We try to have people at a similar stage of their career on the same course.

A reasonable level of fitness is required. You do not need to be an athlete; however, you do need to be able to walk up to 7 miles both days (slowly is absolutely fine) while carrying your own backpack loaded with camping supplies. It's not meant to be a walk in the park either ;-)

Please note: if you are happy and content in your current career and role/position, that's fantastic and I am so very happy for you; however, that means this is not the course for you. The Apex Women Leadership Course is aimed at women who want to keep climbing in their career and are chasing that next promotion (and the added responsibility that comes with it).

Women's Leadership Program

Where will we be?

 Lake Tahoe, Nevada

Located approximately: 30 miles from Reno/120 miles from Sacramento/200 miles from San Francisco

Reno is the nearest airport. It is highly advisable to stay the night before the Leadership Experience in either Reno or Lake Tahoe.

Tunnel Creek Trail is a 13-mile (return) trail located adjacent to Lake Tahoe, near Incline Village, Nevada. For more information about the general area please visit this website:  Spooner Lake - Lake Tahoe Nevada State Park | State Parks (nv.gov)

The hike is rated as moderate.

The weather is best (not too cold at night) from May until September.

The trail features epic scenery of Lake Tahoe. There is a steep but steady, respectable elevation climb in the beginning.  The elevation gain is 1,400′, all in the first couple of miles.  It’s fairly steady after that, however many people notice the high-altitude difference in shortness of breath during the climb up.
